Street art defaced by mindless graffiti
‘A mural by graffiti artist Banksy has been defaced in south London while a public vote was taking place calling for its preservation.’
‘The council is deciding whether the mural can be restored.’

Question: Why is the Banksy piece referred to as ‘a mural’ (5 times) and a ‘work’ (twice) by an ‘acclaimed artist’, while the people who sprayed ‘mindless graffiti’ over it are called ‘taggers’?
‘Councillor Colin Hall said: “We believe in democracy and wanted local people to decide what should happen to the Banksy. Sadly someone decided to take it into their own hands.”’
Hang on a sec. Didn’t Banksy take it into his own hands to paint the ‘mural’ in the first place? Surely in the rules of graffiti it is the graffiti artists themselves who choose whether a peice is worth preserving or scrawling over. Sorry Banksy, but it seems your street cred doesn’t match your credibility with the local council.
